šrapnelis statusas T sritis Gynyba apibrėžtis Ore sprogstantis sviedinys, užtaisytas naikinamaisiais elementais – šratais, strypeliais, strėlėmis, metalo gabalėliais ir kt. Šrapnelį sudaro: plieninis korpusas, pripildytas naikinamųjų elementų; užsukamas sviedinio antgalis; nuotolinis sprogdiklis ir išmetamasis užtaisas. Lekiant sviediniui virš reikiamos vietos atsisuka antgalis, nuotolinis sprogdiklis susprogdina išmetamąjį užtaisą, kuris savo ruožtu išsvaido naikinamuosius elementus. XX a. vid. šrapnelius išstūmė skeveldriniai ir skeveldriniai ardomieji sviediniai. XX a. pab. vėl atsirado panašūs šaudmenys, vadinami šaudmenimis su naikinamaisiais elementais, pvz., amerikiečių 155 mm sviedinys, pripildytas 8 000 strypelių. atitikmenys: angl. shrapnel shell rus. шрапнель ryšiai: dar žiūrėksviedinys
